This week’s topic is all about what happens when you finally get a lead that converts. They’ve watched your content, looked at your videos, read your posts, and they’re inspired and curious. What does this person do next? They move straight to your LinkedIn profile or whatever your social media weapon of choice is.

 

From my experience, the majority of profiles out there are a real mixed bag. They might be filled with AI-generated content, outdated information from years ago, or an overly detailed CV that doesn’t appeal to potential clients at their stage in the buying journey. This week, we’re focusing on how to optimise your profile to support conversions and research.

 

Why Your Profile Matters

In today’s market, people want to create their own buying journey. They prefer to do their own research without being bombarded by emails or LinkedIn messages. They want to understand what you do and how you can help them before reaching out. If your profile isn’t up to par, you could be losing potential clients before they even get to your website.

 

Key Elements of an Effective Profile

      1. Headline: Your headline isn’t just a job title. It should be a concise summary that helps people understand how you can help them. Think of it as the news headline – it needs to grab attention and convey value at a glance.

      1. About Section: This should create an emotional connection between the outcomes your audience wants and what you do. Instead of listing every detail about your process, focus on how your experiences uniquely qualify you to solve their problems. Mention a simple three-step process if necessary, but keep the focus on benefits.

      1. Call to Action: End your about section with a clear call to action. Whether it’s a link to your website, a Calendly link to book a call, or a lead generation tool, make it easy for them to take the next step.

      1. Social Proof: Include testimonials or client experiences in your profile to build credibility. Highlighting positive feedback can reassure potential clients about your capabilities.

      • Compare and Improve: Once you’ve made the changes, download the new version and compare it with the old one. Show it to a stranger and get their feedback.
      • Iterate: Your profile is an evolving document. Regularly update it to reflect your current offerings and successes.
