Why You WON’T Convert Your Audience
That’s quite a statement. And for the vast majority of people, it’s true. There’s ONE simple underlying reason why.
Most people don’t post content… and those that do, tend to write it for the people they know will engage, from their existing audience. You know – the fans, who shout and rave about you – who you’ve helped in the past, and have engaged with over the years… who you’ve met, and who believe in you.
That’s awesome, and you should absolutely TREASURE those people – they’re worth their weight in gold. Unfortunately, they’re not your target audience though. They’re your existing audience.
Consider this: What if your ‘Ideal Audience’ haven’t found you yet?
(Spoiler: They probably haven’t, especially if you’re not seeing inbound sales from your content)
If you don’t write for those people, they will NEVER find you, because you’re aiming your posts at people who will never convert, no matter how much you try.
When the right folks DO visit your profile, they don’t see anything that resonates directly, so they pass on by. So what stops people from writing for the correct (future) audience? Vanity metrics.
The moment you stop writing content that speaks to your current audience fanbase… views, comments, ‘likes’ … they all start to fade. Because you’re no longer engaging the people who DO follow you, and you haven’t yet engaged the people who SHOULD follow you.
And so creators wrongly give up – assuming their content doesn’t ‘resonate’. In fact, it probably does… you just need to give it time to build.
The ONE promise I can give you today? Hit that sweet spot, and your content will resonate with your future audience much better and more strongly than your current ‘fanbase’ audience. Your growth will EXPLODE 🧨 🔥.
But in order to do all that… you need to understand the one or two ideal client profiles that you are going to target, to the exclusion of almost all others. It’s not easy to do, and it’s never ‘done’ – it always needs tweaking and revising over time.
